SFTI’s Pension common-API raises the efficiency in the pension ecosystem. The vision is to open up the data silos of the pension funds and thereby improve pension planning in Switzerland:

  • Openness: Pension fund data is accessible - with the consent of the insured - for a variety of applications.
  • Simplicity: Each person can easily get an overview of his or her own pension plan and easily make possible adjustments.
  • Transparency: Each person has full transparency about their own retirement provision.
  • Efficiency: Pension funds and employers benefit from increased efficiency.

This lays the foundation for an ecosystem of insured persons, pension funds, employers, banks, insurance companies, etc. to emerge with a variety of offerings that complement each other. Here are a few possible use cases:

  • Couples can use an app to get an overview of their joint financial situation after retirement and suggestions for increasing their pensions.
  • Insured persons make purchases into the pension fund with small, recurring contributions, e.g., directly from a banking app.
  • In the case of comprehensive investment advice, the bank queries the pension fund and OASI pension data directly - with the insured's prior consent.
  • Insured persons can have scenarios for early retirement calculated at the push of a button and by an independent app.
  • To finance a home, the insured person can automatically withdraw or pledge money from the pension fund.
  • An insurance company queries the risk benefits (death, etc.) of the pension fund - with the prior consent of the insured person - in order to identify gaps and make tailored offers.
  • An SME introduces new HR software that automatically reports employee mutations to the pension fund in quasi real-time via the standardized interface.
