Is your feature request related to a problem ?

I would like to close registration for my server, and send invite links to specific people I want to join.

I notice there is a section in the documentation for invite links:

https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/admin/signups/#sign-up-via-invite

However, I cannot find a tracking issue. Is this it? :)

Describe the solution you'd like.

Mastodon's implementation of invite links seems to work well for me:

https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/contacts/#invites

https://fedi.tips/inviting-people-onto-mastodon-and-the-fediverse/

I'm sure there are ways it could be improved, though.

Describe alternatives you've considered.

We currently have sign-ups open and just don't tell anyone about our server that we don't want to request to join. This is not very sustainable, though, because eventually random people from the internet will discover our server and request to sign-up. We can reject those requests, but this would not be a good use of our moderators' time.

Additional context.
