Is there really no quick way of getting a new view into the same document?

I searched the program's options and the manual in vain for a way to get a new window - or split-screen in a single window would do - on the same document. One can get a new window and then load the document, but that is cumbersome.

I am unsure that I have used the right category for this post. What does 'Documentation. How to / wiki info' cover?

The SHIFT "New window" command either internal or external is documented and in latest prerelease you could add a text icon to new window current page with your choice of hot key.

Agreed not so easy to find as

Alternatives are open a side window in edge as a single page call of same file allows for dual edits or read aloud.

Edge can be CLI driven to open PDF at 11 different screen position for over and under or side by side. or a grid of monitors

Your post helped me to discover the following. To open a new window that shows the current document, press shift-ctrl-n. That command is not very 'discoverable'! I was able to do that on a 3.6 version of Sumatra.

I do not understand what you wrote about Sumatra has an 'internal' new-view command and an 'external' one.
