Consumes a lot of energy while in the game loop; CPU gets hot, fan starts up, battery draining rate increases. Even though no moves are made by the user, the display is being updated very quickly and repeatedly.

  • restrict the animation frame rate,
  • stop animation updates as soon as required movements have finished,
  • use dirty rectangle accumulation, see sugargame example source.
