Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled codebases yearning to be bug free, The wretched refuse of your teams of yore. Send these, the unmaintained, tempest-tost to me, I fix your LAMP beside the golden door!
After some time of hiding in the shadows, I'm steppin' out like Kool & the Gang, having a bit more confidence that what I create provides value for you, the users.
Please join my creative journey, crafting software to solve real problems and doing it in a way that I hope to inspire others to follow.
In such a money-hungry world, I want to show that we can:
- survive by generously producing for others, without excluding anyone by charging a fee
- grow your userbase without capturing a user's personal information and invasively marketing to them
- produce popular software with minimal, free tools and without requiring expensive hardware
Working on WP2Static and my other open source projects takes a bunch of time and energy. Writing code, helping users and maintaining websites takes a little bit of $ but mostly time. I do this fulltime because it's my passion.
I consider myself an artist, in that I'm creative, passionate, risk-taking and determined when working on a solution. On studying some great artists in history, it's not uncommon to find stories of them dying in debt or struggling with their finances throughout life. There is some sad comfort in that knowledge, but there were also tales of those great patrons of the arts, who allowed more of the timeless masterpieces we still enjoy to have been created.
I humbly ask you to be one of those patrons today, giving me a little boost to help create free things for you and those less fortunate to take value from.
Cheers,
Leon

"Even though Monet was having success with his art, they lived in poverty for a long time. Some of Monet’s paintings were seized by creditors. Monet even tried to kill himself by drowning in the Seine because his financial burdens were upsetting him so badly."
The $10 pledges so far have been a great boost for me, many thanks! A few hundred of these and I can replace the unhealthy financial stress with a healthy creative tension.
