Hello! I've been in the broadcast and streaming video space for over 20 years - in particular, I'm trying to reduce glass-to-glass latency with high-quality live video including 4K 360/VR180 content.
I'm one of FFmpeg's biggest fans, along with dash.js, hls.js, WebRTC, ExoPlayer, OBS, NGINX, RTMP, SRT, QUIC and so on.
My degree is in software development and I work with mainstream programming languages, analysers and debuggers for Apple, Android and Microsoft.
I am a huge Raspberry Pi fan too and happy to help others with RPi video projects.
Brewing beer is another passion of mine and I run the 'open-source' Pyrmont Brewery. In fact, you can read my resume and find out more about the brewery and my other projects here:
https://pyrmontbrewery.com/resume.html
My current side project is "Streama" to test LL-HLS streams - basic stuff it does:
General failures around segments and partials (404/503)
Bitrate thresholds +/- 10% hit
Stalls (when/best guess why)
ABR jumps
Thinks that are coming:
FairPlay key server latency
MSN vs media playlist history check
Partial length vs segment vs part target duration vs extinf
GOP structure checks, independent partial correctly flagged
SKIP tag checker
Rendition report verifier LAST-MSN and LAST-PART checks
Batch remote control (playlist of playlists, auto gen report)
Android ULL-CMAF version
dash.js updates (adding some useful tools)
DVB-DASH (HbbTV CEHTML) version
