This error comes again and again after installing both packages(reanimated, gesture handler):

Hi! Have you written some code that uses reanimated or you get this error just after installing reanimated and gesture handler?

If this is your babel.config.js:

module.exports = {
  presets: ['module:@react-native/babel-preset'],
  this.plugins: ['react-native-reanimated/plugin']
};

Please try to remove the this. prefix from the plugins property. This is likely the cause of your problem. The config should look like this:

  presets: ['module:@react-native/babel-preset'],
  plugins: ['react-native-reanimated/plugin']

I researched about error go through the documentation applied all solutions

1. keeping this in babel.config.js
2. position should be last

Your babel config looks correct.

Do you see this error after starting the project or after adding some specific code? If you see error after adding code that uses reanimated, could you please share the code snippet.

Are you developing the app on android using a computer with windows? I am judging that based on your error stack trace you pasted in the comment above. When you saw this error? When you tried to install the older reanimated version or in some other case?

I added

const config = {
    resetCache: true
};

For me this issue came when I added react-native-svg in RN CLI project.
I installed react-native-reanimated first and then added react-native-svg, the issue popped up while running the project.

@MatiPl01 I encountered an issue while running the project, even though I wasn't using it anywhere in the code. It was quite strange! I ended up restarting my system and reinstalling everything, and now it is working fine. I suspect it was a caching issue.

1. I added the following to my babel.config.js: plugins: ['react-native-reanimated/plugin']
2. I then restarted my system.
3. Then I did: npm i react-native-reanimated if you are using yarn you can use yarn add react-native-reanimated
4. After that I ran :
   npm run start -- --reset-cache or if you are using yarn you can use yarn start --reset-cache

Yeah, sometimes you just have to reset cache after installing packages. Good to hear that you managed to solve it.

Could you also tell me if you encountered this issue after creating a new project or upgrading reanimated/gesture handler in the existing project? If it is the new project, can you tell me how you used reanimated or share a code snippet which causes this error?

I've fixed this issue by adding in metro.config.js const config = { resetCache: true // this worked for me };
