NMS want to be able to get the metadata in citation formats. They want to be able to do so using different styles (e.g. Chicago, Harvard, etc.). Kew have also asked about exporting citations before.

Problem

Currently, a work page has a "citation" option. This has options for Zotero, EndNote, and Mendeley. However, it seems to rely on the installation of a browser plugin that does little more than crawl the webpage.

Solution

This is open to debate. Being able to download a .ris file seems like a good option. And having it intentionally mapped to the Hyku metadata fields (rather than ad hoc webpage crawling) would make the citations much more robust. Not sure if this would be the preferred solution for NMS or Kew.

newer versions of Hyku have new citation functionality - e.g. https://au-archives.hykucommons.org/concern/images/69ccff93-426a-4c2a-9dd8-985c4d933330?locale=en

This may or may not be the ideal solution for our users' needs, but seems to be a definite improvement on v3 functionality.
