I've heard interest from various folks, in various visions of a page that captures existing + publishes new tutorials and/or OER (e.g. datasets etc. too). We need someone to schedule a meeting open to other SLab staff, to discuss and plan.

Questions/tasks:

  • who is point person for vision
    • they should do the work of checking with each staff so everyone adds pertinent existing materials, and considers what new materials they can create
  • what is page title
  • where does page go in the nav menu, if it does
  • how do we keep the page wieldy/navigable? e.g. can we add a filter/sort or collapse function, if there's a lot of text
  • how do we tag posts and projects to pull those in, when appropriate
  • include podcast files from issue Podcasts #28
  • how are tutorial organized? by method, field, ???
  • get info from https://confluence.admin.virginia.edu/display/SLAB/Beyond+ScholarsLab.org%3A+SLab+staff+work+around+the+Web

Note April 2026 deadline for accessibility changes as needs to apply to PDFs, slides, OER too

Sent invite for SLab staff opt-in meeting to brainstorm. Will follow up by IDing what work, by who, by when, what meetings/cowork needed.

Helpful checklist suggested by Judy:

  1. make sure to add a CC license. We lean towards CC-BY (CC-0 is great, too, of course). (CC-ND resources don't qualify as OER, although they still might be excellent things to share with the world.)
  2. consider registering your materials with Merlot, OER Commons, and the Open Textbook Network. If you tend to register with other DH-oriented sites, would you let me know what they are? I'd love to include them on my list.
  3. consider adding them to Libra.

Let's discuss anything we want to add (e.g. Knowledge Commons, SLab Zotero Library, ???)
