Builds on #1012 (summer tags/categories work). Please ask Amanda for access to the SLab staff tags/cats Gsheet to participate in this work.

Tasks:

  • Updated all 4/2024-8/19/2024 post yaml tags (8/19/2024)
  • go fix some existing tags with spaces, as this makes pulling in tagged posts use same code instead of 2 types of code depending on presence of space or not in tag (done 8/19/2024)
  • Some past posts need to have their tags cleaned up, so they are not pulled into "posts about TAG" when they only barely mention a concept
  • Do "disambiguation" list below*
  • Go further back
  • Take specific tag from list (start with list of new+most likely to need adding tags** below) and add throughout all past posts; note in this message once done
  • tell various staff about tags of most interest to each (eg expansive-makerspace, fabric-arts, student-author to Ammon; hello-world to Brandon)
  • See yellow-highlighted tags on gsheet, as these are newer and less likely to be applied across all our past posts yet
  • see /pages/scholarship/tags for expansive-makerspace and makerspace example tag pages (linked in a 9/2024 blog post) as models for other such pages; if we move these elsewhere, make sure to set a redirect to their current URLs
  • Go through all old Praxis fellows posts and make sure (except where not appropriate) these have the tags:
    • grad-student-research
    • praxis
    • [name of year's project]
    • I have already completed checking/adding for:
    • Clockwork
    • Dash Amerikan

* Disambiguation list

Figure out/disambiguate/remove or add/involved tagging tasks:

  • dataset
  • visualization, Visualization and Data Mining, dataset, Statistical Analysis, text-analysis
  • archaeology, architecture, history, Architectural History; should some posts that have any of these tags have more of them too? (check content to see if applicable)
  • for any projects that have multiple posts about it, if there is not a project-specific tag already (e.g. ClockWork has clockwork already) create one and add to all relevant posts; then ping Amanda to add a loop pulling those posts into the project’s /work page
  • add more academic fields to tags list, and to posts (see ones already listed, which may not be on all appropriate posts yet; look at welcoming-new-fellows posts to see past fellows’ departments as this may help us notice some more of their posts are relevant to that tag)

** Tags likely needing lots of adding/editing

  • fabric arts
  • getting started (recommendations how to get started in a topic, not an individual discussing getting started themselves)
  • learning experience (only for a person describing/reflecting on their experience of learning something, not other stuff about learning/teaching)
  • tutorials (to posts that tell you how to do something specific)
  • prism is missing from a lot of that year’s posts; also some prism posts should have “text analysis” tag added to it
  • no posts are tagged connection established
  • hall of fame (each person can add this to up to 4 of their favorite posts, for any value of favorite)
  • fun
  • makerspace project (tag doesn't exist yet; add to anything tagged "makerspace" that discusses/shares a specific makerspace project)
