Need to decide what goal of separate pages is; what goal of use to page links vs. page anchors is; what goal of what appears in nav is (e.g. we all do DH, but there is utility in each functional unit having their own page about how to contact them & what they do)
Need to decide who gets displayed on which pages, how (we all do DH, multiple folks code)
Every page should have a "who to contact" photo and email address, not too buried
The three of us should come up with 1-2 possible models. Jeremy had a good one: "For the Consult sections, I think we should just have one "Digital Humanities" page, with three current pages as sections. And then list folks as one group on that page. Otherwise, for consistency, I assume we'll need to identify which staff get listed on the ohter two pages, unless you just want to repeat the list on all three (Code + Design, DH Pedagogy, Critical DH)"
Someone needs to schedule a meeting with the three of us and (Ronda/Brandon first? rep from each unit, e.g. three of us+Drew+Ammon? all staff?) to discuss models, check folks okay with how their work is/isn't mentioned where.
Once we find something the three of us agree on, we can adjust homepage/pages/nav
Improve homepage "strengths" list, particularly better link to project design & management (e.g. is code-design R&D or not; currently text from SL/Jb, lists RG/SL/JB
Other ideas from drafting that didn't get implemented before launch
Good ideas from Laura's GDoc draft, that haven't made it into the site pre-launch (but we may want to use in the future):
Homepage:
intro para (anti-oppressive instead of socially just? LM concern re:setting us up as arbiters; goal is where we want to head, not "we have arrived")
"What we do" => later, ideas for other places these could link:
digital humanities (link to R&D - later, Critical DH?)
digital pedagogy (Brandon? R&D? - later, Digital Pedagogy)
GIS/mapping & analysis (Spatial Tech)
cultural heritage informatics (Spatial Tech)
3D laser scanning & photogrammetry (Spatial Tech)
3D printing, making, & electronics (Makerspace)
and virtual/augmented reality (Spatial Tech)
"What we do" => "see our work" link at bottom => Laura: "I'd like this to link out the various "consult" groups: R&D, ST, Making -- BUT I also would like Our Work/Projects to have a prominent link from the homepage. Thoughts??"
About:
refine social justice language (LM: "add something about equity, diversity, inclusion, social justice, anti-oppressive research.")
