Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The new SAS Server file system tree view uses the root directory of the SAS Compute Server as its starting point. This potentially causes lots of mouse clicks to navigate to folders that the user wants to use and/or exposes folders that you might not want users to see.
Describe the solution you'd like
Allow for an option on a server connection definition that specifies what the root navigation path should be that is displayed in the SAS Server file system tree viewer. Currently, SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Studio rovide options to specify:
system root
user root
custom path
Additional context
Ultimately, it might make sense to provide such a setting/attribute on compute context level in SAS Viya. This would allow SAS administrator to define this centrally using SAS Environment Manager, and all SAS applications that interact with SAS Viya Compute Servers could consume this, resulting in the same behavior across all those applications.
An additional attribute to specify whether users are allowed to overrule the central setting would be useful. Applications could then use this value to decide whether the application should show a "change navigation root path" menu option in the interactive session, and provide a text entry field where the user can type in the root path they want to use and perhaps remember this for future sessions.
