✨ Feature Request: Directional Cycling Order for Multi-Display Setups 🚀

Hi Rectangle Team,

Thanks for developing such a handy tool! Rectangle has been great for managing my workspace. 🙌

I have a feature request that could improve the experience for users with multiple monitors. I’d love the ability to customize the cycling order when using keyboard shortcuts, specifically:

1. Directional Cycling with Shortcuts:
   • When I press Control+Option+Left Arrow ⬅️, I'd like the window to first move to the left half of the current screen (laptop display). On the next press, it should move to the left monitor and cycle through positions there.
   • Similarly, when I press Control+Option+Right Arrow ➡️, the window should first move to the right half of the current screen (laptop display). On the next press, it should move to the right monitor and cycle through positions there.

This feature would allow for more intuitive control over window placement based on directional input, making it easier to manage windows across multiple displays.

In the General tab of the settings window, try adjusting the "Repeated Commands" setting. If you select either of the "move to adjacent..." options there, you should get what you're looking for.

Hi, I tried all those options but it still will cycle through them in a different way, I almost want to set like a linear path. Kinda like this:
(M)onitor 1 <-> (L)aptop <-> (M)onitor 2
M1L <-> MR1 <-> LL <-> LR <-> ML2 <-> MR2

Hopefully that makes sense lol

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but there is an option to order the screens by their x position only, not both x and y. You can enable it with the following Terminal command:

defaults write com.knollsoft.Rectangle screensOrderedByX -int 1

Then restart the app.
