z not remembering it's history when I log out and back in.

On one of my computers I have an issue with z I cannot solve.
z works great on another computer.
The install was with the same script, so no difference.

I am baffled that z refuses to remember the history during a session after I logged out and log back in.
the z-history seems to be cleared when I log out.

What can cause this ?
I cant figure it out.

z is immensely valuable. One of the most useful tools I encountered in linux, so it would be nice to remedy this issue.
