For the map, there are a couple of things I noticed that could probably be better illustrated.

  1. Filtering by denomination from the drop down does not visually show which states/cities have information for that particular denomination, so the user has to pretty much click around to different states/cities before finding ones with that specific denomination.

Possible solution:
When the denomination is selected in the dropdown, the map should highlight/color code (green? open to color choices) the states for that denomination. Also, when the user clicks on the state to zoom in, the related cities should also be highlighted as well.

  1. When a state has been zoomed into, the user is able to hover over each city, to see the name of the city, but there's no quick reference to how many denominations there are in that city. I think that information would be useful here to prevent the user from having to click through multiple cities before finding the ones that have denominations.

Possible solution: I think the city name pop-ups should have the number of denominations in that city visible, like so: TETON, Montana (20), where 20 would be the number of denominations in that city.

I'm not sure if this is how the audience will be using this map, but from my perspective, I was expecting to get this information right away without having to click through multiple states.

Let me know your thoughts.

I agree with a number of these assessments, and I think it's worth discussing for our first post-release update. It's a bigger conversation than we have time to address before launch, but we should definitely circle back to this afterwards.
