What is the bug or the crash?

Hope this is being posted correctly. I have been pulling my hair out trying to open pngs with pgw world files for the last couple days. They work fine on a colleagues QGIS but not mine. Today I deactivated all my plugins and all of the sudden it worked. After going through the plugins one by one, it seems the Processing Toolbox is causing the issue. Is there a way to flag this for checking?

@JordanMertes, please specify what do you mean exactly with the fact that opening png file with pgw world doesn't work. I've opened the provided png / pgw file without any issue (apart from the fact that you didn't indicate which CRS to assign to the layer) using QGIS LTR 3.40.4 and QGIS 3.42.0 on Windows 10.
Please provide detailed step-by-step instructions and explain in details the expected behaviour and the actual observed behaviour.
Please also consider that a png / pgw raster layer doesn't have a defined CRS and thus you need to manually assign the correct CRS to the imported layer.

Hi @agiudiceandrea , thank for the reply. I will try and clarify. So, I have a project with project CRS EPSG 27700. The png pgw files are in EPSG 32630. If I have the processing toolbox plugin activated and I go and drag the png into my project and go to select the crs for the png, it appears south of africa. If I deactivate the processing toolbox plugin and drag the png in and set it's crs to EPSG 32630, it then appears in the right place.

@JordanMertes I cannot replicate the issue either running QGIS 3.40.3 or QGIS 3.40.5 from OSGeo4W on Windows 10:

Please try if the issue occurs also using a new QGIS user profile. If it does, please provide a QGIS project file, any other layer needed and more detailed step-by-step instructions in order to replicate the issue.
