To directly interconnect two nodes that are behind a NAT/firewall via the Internet, one can implement hole punching.

One thing to consider is a privacy concept, as the direct interconnection will reveal the IP addresses of the directly interconnected nodes.

This issue is a discussion for concepts on how to implement direct interconnections of nodes via the Internet.
