Suggested new sections/updates for the roadmap

Model definitions / Model hub

The way models are currently being built from submodels makes it hard to see what the model equations are, and debug models when errors occur. Some planned updates to make this better are:

• Dimensional models to remove the barrier of model non-dimensionalization
• Tools to print model equations (in python or latex format)

A way to re-think models would be to create a model/data hub for batteries, where people can share complete models + parameters + validation data for others to easily download and reproduce. A nice example of this in ML is https://huggingface.co/

Performance

We aim to continuously improve PyBaMM's performance. Performance is monitored via airspeed velocity. The work on this area has two main fronts:

1. Improving the benchmark suite to monitor the code better.
2. Reformat the backend of the code to make it more efficient.

Planned updates of the back-end code include:

• Continuing to develop the IDAKLU solver to be more efficient and use more features from SUNDIALS
• Update the CasADi solver to reduce pre-/post-processing time
