investigate creating the incrementer/decrementer DOM element based on the accumulator

Right now it's always a span. which is fine, but maybe it'd be worth allowing it to inherit, for instance if the accumulator was an H1, then maybe so should the other thing.

If it inherits something that isn't inline displayed, that's what would need to be set when inheriting. But what should it inherit? Only the DOM object type or more?
