DAO instantiation and scope

I need to create a database and DAOs that will be available from several places in the app.
Currently I'm creating the DAO in main, pass it in the constructor of the App, which passes it in the constructor of the App state, which passes it to a stateful widget constructor, which passes on to the state of that widget.
Looks nightmarish and soon I'll need to access other DAOs. Yet this is the only insight I'm getting from the example.

I'm a total newbie, but this looks like something that should be more globablly available.
What's the best way to do this ? getit ?
