Is the dev version backwards compatible? Needs to write some scripts now, and we are still running 6.42 version. We will be moving up soon.

Because the new login method is tried first, and older RouterOS versions don't support it, you're going to see a failed login attempt in the logs next to each successful one.

Other than that, they are compatible, yes.
