If colormake.rc is supposed to be a configuration file so that the local admin can put its preferences then the file should be in /etc/ and not in /usr/share/.
I propose to create a /etc/colormake.rc file that contains the default colors used by colormake. So the admin has a minimal base to start making changes. Maybe the lines can be all commented.
