Does --http= work?

Hi guys.

I do:

-> $ wp-cli --debug=true --http=https://ale.xyz --user=adm plugin list
Error: This does not seem to be a WordPress installation.
The used path is: /home/pe/Documents/Programming/Configs/
Pass --path=`path/to/wordpress` or run `wp core download`.

I remember it working no problems a few versions back.
Locally, which Wordpress is in container, it works just fine:

-> $ podman container exec --user www-data -i ale.xyz ./wp-content/wp-cli theme list

and the site is served via https a ok.
Any ideas why, what is not working?
