I am getting an error trying to complete the authentication for Tidal (using Music Assistant Beta 2.0.0b39). Authentication appears to complete on Tidal's website, but I receive a popup/toast message on Music Assistant page with " 'gender' ". Relevant log excerpt is attached.

I am on 2023.6.0 BETA 3 and tidal was no longer working using previous token.

I then removed previous tidal music provider and decided to reauth, but then got a gender pop up:

Question: why is gender there anyway, as that does not form part of the Tidal profile for auth?

To fix the issue I edited the /usr/local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/tidalapi/user.py inside the container and removed any gender related lines, namely line 86 & 102:

@oneofthemany I have removed your comment as it was a paste of way to many info which was also unneeded. There is no need to go manually hacking around files. You just need to update the server. You are probably on some versions behind ?

To answer your question, Tidal removed something in their API that was no longer needed/in use and that crashed the model in tidalapi.

Version 2023.6.0 BETA 3 is the version of the HACS integration which has nothing to do with the actual server version.
Maybe you run that manually on docker or something ?

ok weird behaviour:

i inspected the container and the version was showing as follows:

org.opencontainers.image.version": "2.0.0b61"

Note: I have an auto update container service which looks for a new image every day and updates as and when

Also I have no local volumes so all config/function was in the container

i immediately thought that I was on the new version and went to see if the gender value was in the user.py file, and it was.

after your comment I then force removed the image and the container and restarted the service and all is working without the need of having to edit.

sometimes stuff just goes wrong by the looks of it

How can I play a Tidal Playlist in a Scene in Home Assistant? I tried this from a service call but it doesn't play my playlist, it just adds "Url Stream" to the queue:

thanks for pointing me into that direction. It's working now. I only installed the Add-On but not the HACS and not the integration. It was not super obvious in the readme. Anyway, this is awesome! Better UX than with the Denon Heos Apps....

The mixes etc. are available, we have chosen not to add them at this time. will be added as and when the new frontend design allows them to be added.
That is to say that rather than trying to just shoe-horn them into the playlists section, they and the similar sections like this from other providers will have a dedicated area of the UI.

So, funnily enough, the mixes actually are not really available yet, due to some strange behaviour from tidal themselves.

I actually just created a PR yesterday to the tidal library that we use that should then allow us to add the mixes in future when we decide to add them.

When I open an artist, the lists for tracks and albums are empty. Does happen to anyone else?

This is likely normal. What you see in MA for streaming providers is what you have in the streaming providers library. So it sounds like you have favourited or added to the tidal library an artist. In the MA library that is all you will see unless you add some of their albums to the library. You can select the provider filter and then you will see everything available from that provider although there is a bug in that functionality at the moment so it may not work as advertised for you.

Setting up for first time and interface hangs using iOS app when I hit the authenticate on tidal button. Logs show following and I've setup Spotify and tune in so far without issues.

Tried it from web browser and got a pop up window block which I got past and authenticated just fine. Leaving this out there in case someone else runs into issue.

Did you click on weitere informationen? This is going to be a problem at your end though. Pop up blockers, ad blocker, something like that

allowed pop ups and forwarding in the chrome settings and opened music assistant in an incognito tab. still the problem and no pop up.

yesterday - before i did a music assistant update (add on and integration) i was able to add tidal as provider and now it doesn't work anymore.

Is it possible to play tidal Atmos content to an HDMI interface (pass through)?

Not possible currently, and would require fundamental changes to how audio is handled in the application.
Stability is the focus until V2 is out of beta.

Is there any progress to get access to the "For you"-Section in Tidal (My Daily Discovery, My Mixes etc.) within MA?
I've just kicked out my beloved Roon (can't tell my family we have to save some money and at the same time pay 150 bugs for nice luxury). Okay, if MA getting more and more closer to Roon I will sponsor some bugs ;-)

Hi, really appreciate all the work you are doing for us. Do you have any idea when sony 360 audio should be available in MA, I'm thinking about switching to tidal from deezer but until 360 is available to MA it is little contra productive. because I doesn't want to always be searching for phone to switch song.

I believe that it would require a rewrite of the audio streaming pipeline to essentially do a passthrough rather than processing the audio.
Same thing would need to happen for Atmos content for example.
It's not completely out of the realm of possibility one day, but it will not happen any time in the near future.

I noticed that saved tracks on Tidal are also saved as albums in MA. In Tidal it only shows up as track, and cannot be found under Albums.

Is there a reason for this or should I submit an issue?

Is anyone aware if it's possible to get a sample rate higher than 44.1kHz when using tidal?
According to the information in the beta version it's supposed to be up to 24bit 192kHz, but I have yet found a way to play any song with 192kHz sample rate.

So the issue is still there, kind of.
Some songs are streamed as displayed in the Tidal app, but not all.

Hello. Firstly thanks for peoples hard work on this.

Does anyone else have the issue of some songs not playing? I would say when I go to play a song, it works 40% of the time, and for the rest, the pause icon is there for a moment, then goes to play icon, and no music plays. Any ideas?

Yes - I am certain I played the same ID - I will try it again today. But I tried to be quite specific - and play a new album, and a song that wasn't on greatest hits etc. etc.

Hello - it's possibly solved. I reloaded player providers, and I am using the airplay component of the Sony. The UNPN possibly works after reloading as well, but I've not tried. But I can report it's working in that configuration.

i just started my journey with this project and im impressed.
There is something that bothers me and I dont understand why it is happenning.
While I'm playing HiRES music from tidal to my upnp player it (DAC) keeps showing 192kHz 24bit even for track that are for example 96kHz and 24bit. Whie im playing same songs from Bubble upnp there is no such issue, I see 96kHz and 24bit.
Do you know why it works this way?

Why do you think the track is only 96/24. Bubble upnp may be limited?

Bubble Upnp supports tidal up to 192/24. Track is available on Tidal in 96/24. After messing with player settings I left only 44,1/16, 24 48/16,24 96/16,24 and 192/16,24 and now my dac show correct number, don't know why it works this way but it helped.

I just tried this locally and had no issue. Did you fully reset the authentication in the settings?
You unfortunately might need to reset your DB, but maybe not, I have never had issue with getting logged out from tidal.
