Why is location announcements limited to the primary channel?

In my area, lots of nodes use a private channel as a primary (presumably, for precise location sharing).

It seems a shame they cannot announce their approximate location on the public channel, and thus are not visible on the map anymore.

Is there a technical reason for this?

Positions can be manually requested by a 3rd party on the public channel if the primary channel is set to private.

Location can now be shared automatically to a single channel, the lowest numbered channel with position sharing enabled. This also doesn’t answer your question. I would also like to know the explanation.

I’d love to have approximate position sharing available to the main channel, and the option to share precise position to a secondary channel. It seems like this could just be the additional precision. Info, and then be combined with the public position.
