Axis support guidelines (please read before creating a new discussion)

Please note that answers to your questions most often will come from the community, from developers like yourself. You will, from time to time, find that Axis employees answers some of the questions, but this is not a guarantee. Think of the discussion forum as a complement to other support channels, not a replacement to any of them.

If your question remains unanswered for a period of time, please revisit it to see whether it can be improved by following the guidelines listed below.

Axis discussion forum on GitHub is targeted to Axis Developer Community members and aimed for development discussions related to software development with integration of Axis products and technologies and using Axis development tools and development resources. For product related questions, please see below. For sales related questions, please contact your local Axis office.

On the discussion forum on GitHub you can ask questions, get help from fellow community members and also help other community members with your own expertise. We encourage you all to help out in this endeavor. Let's build a community together that is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable where we can learn, build and share experiences.

Has your question already been answered?

Before you submit a question in the discussion forum, check if you can find a solution to your problem here:

• Check prior posts in the discussion forum, you can use the search function to find answers to previously asked questions.
• If your question is related to a certain repository there might be a discussion forum connected to it, check prior posts to find answers to previously asked questions.

Writing a good question

To increase the chance of getting your question answered, please provide the following information in your question:

1. A description of your problem
   • What are you trying to solve?
   • What alternative solutions have you thought of but discarded, and why?
   • Are you bound by any limiting factors?
   • Is the solution designed to run on a specific device architecture?
2. A description of your current solution
   • Code snippets describing your current solution. GitHub Discussions has full Markdown support, use inline code and fenced code blocks as you see fit
   • Provide links to APIs you use
   • Provide error messages you get when running your code

Product related questions

For pure product related questions or issues, please submit them on the technical support helpdesk. Be specific in your description that the problem you are experiencing is related to your Axis product and not a development/integration issue.
