Autofind of repo from POM?

I have looked at the static sample in the documentation and found that:

for example:

But the POM for version 4.0.0-RC3

contains

Am I making a mistake or is the POM not read for this information? How do I get macaron to consider the SCM element?
Even without a token an equivalent anonymous http: clone should be possible?
