What phases of a car share reservation / trip are we interested in tracking and why?

As we look at the possibility of adding car share support to MDS (#640), we will need to understand what aspects of the service are helpful to capture in the data model. Unlike a micromobility, car sharing typically involves a reservation that can involve one or more trips (e.g. discrete travel events with a stop in between). We will likely need to redesign the "state machine" to reflect these differences.

For example, do we need to understand reservation start and end times? Is it valuable to link individual trips that take place within a given reservation? Are there different types of stops during/between trips that need to be identified and categorized?

Please share your perspective on what elements the data model for car sharing should capture and how those data elements are useful to policymakers receiving the data.
