A nice improvement could be to include an optional geolocation field or other more advanced geo information(shapes) on each proposal, so it can be rendered on a map along with all other info.

@skarampatakis That's actually under way, although we were thinking of just a pair of coordinates to render a map with a marker. Would a geoshape make sense or would it be enough using a geopoint?
I don't know at which extend geoshapes are used by local authorities. I have seen some, mostly in EU funded projects, let say road construction or improvement, or projects that will affect areas within a municipality's jurisdiction. If you are going to use http://leafletjs.com/ for the map rendering, inclusion of shapes would not be that harsh. Just a way to upload a GeoJSON shape file or a text field to input the coordinations would be enough.
If the workload required is disanalogous with the gains by your judgment, this can be postponed in a later update, or wait for a PR. It is just a nice to have feature. Thank you!
