This attempt a34992c to rectify the bug does not really work.

It seems it's a bug from upstream cargo and I already filed a bug report on that.

I hope it gets resolved soon.

Attempt removed in 8c33c19.

Not going to spend time looking at it hoping it works.

We'll wait until rust-lang/cargo#14917 becomes part of a stable release. I won't close this yet as that commit is still in testing / subject for possible revert or removal.
