Shortcut Zoom Function/Directional Zoom Doesn't Work

I don't really know how to go about explaining this but the shortcuts for using the zoom function like clicking on a section of the video to zoom in doesn't work. When I click on the video the titlebar just greys out as if I clicked on a different application. Even when the video player is in its own window the same thing happens. To better describe what I'm talking about I've included pictures of before and after I try to use the zoom with click.
Going through the playback option works but that doesn't help me if I want to zoom into a specific part of the video since going through the tool bar just does a center zoom.

PLEASE help, I have other things wrong with BORIS as well but maybe this will fix that too.
