Support for H.265 (HEVC) Media Encoding #786
Comments
Hi, |
Hi Olivier, Thanks for the heads up. But I have tested BORIS 8.27.7 on Windows 11 and BORIS 8.28.8 on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS with no success. When I create a new observation and try to add media, it simply does not add the file to the media files list. But the video file opens on VLC and ffplay. I am using video files from a CATS-Cam (https://cats.is/). Here is the ffprobe output from the media file I am using: #0:0: Video: hevc (Main), yuvj420p(pc, bt709), 1920x1080, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 1200k tbn, 25 tbc Please, let me know should you need any other information. |
Hi, |
Thank you so much for taking the time to look into this. I've emailed you a video sample. If you have any questions or need further details, please feel free to contact me directly by email. |
Hello,
I would like to request the support for H.265 (HEVC) media encoding in BORIS. H.265 files are becoming increasingly popular, and adding H.265 support to the BORIS software would greatly improve the compatibility with newer video formats.
FFmpeg already supports H.265 encoding via the libx265 library. Would it be possible to consider this in a future update?
Thank you for all the hard work in maintaining BORIS and for considering this request.
Kind regards,
Alexandre Machado
