matrix of frequencies of transitions averaging across multiple subjects

Hi,

I am trying to export frequencies of the transitions matrix for multiple subjects and am curious about the frequency of different state transitions across different groups of subjects (male rats vs. female rats) and within groups of subjects (ie. female rats who withdraw their hind paws faster than males). Can the matrix of frequencies of transitions average the frequencies of transitions with multiple animals? If it can only average one animal, could I then take the average across multiple subjects? I have a lot to learn about statistics and am curious if it is possible, and if so, how, I could accomplish these things.
