Support dates which are rendered as links [[YYYY-MM-DD]]

Related to #69, it would be great if dues dates added to tasks as links could be interpreted in the same way as those added as plain text .

Ideally these two examples would be parsed in the same way by the plugin:

- [ ] Some task 📅 2021-07-16

and

- [ ] Some task 📅 [[2021-07-16]]

This would be really helpful for those who use daily notes and have a convention of always displaying dates as a link to the corresponding daily note.

I use the Natural Language Date plugin to easily add dates to things. This includes an option to always insert dates as links.

Currently that convention makes all of my dates on tasks incompatible with this excellent tasks plugin.

Hey @philhawksworth, thank you for your input! Is what you request different from #69? Do you suggest an easier change where Tasks only reads and understand these links?
Only reading wouldn’t be sufficient, unfortunately, as Tasks also writes the entire task line when you toggle its status. It would then overwrite your date link with a simple date.

Possible workaround for you:
You say you need this, because you use the natural dates plugin. Maybe a workaround for the time being would be using the „create or edit task“ command and bond it to a hotkey? You can use it keyboard only (input focus; using the tab button to switch; enter to save should all work).

I see your point - it's simple enough to modify the regex for date matching, e.g.:

but a new constructor parameter/linked variable (IIRC) is still needed, to remember either that the toggled task's date should be a link, or the link destination itself.
I'm not that good with TS yet, but I'll continue to poke this riddle when time allows me.

Right. An alternative would be to keep the original string and use that instead of formatting the due Date when rendering the task 🤔
