Recognize outlined heading in daily note

I use Obsidian mostly as an outliner. Most of my headings are outlined like so:

- ## Events
    - ## Work

This is rendered as:

• Events

  • Work

in markdown. While adding events to Daily notes, these headings are not recognized. Since there is no recognizable heading in my daily template file, I get the option to enter free-form text under which the events will be added. However, this free-form text is gets inserted as a second-level heading (H2) in the text (## - ## Events) by default. Which is rendered as:

- ## Events

which is unexpected, unwanted, and not outlined. It would be great if:

1. Either the outlined heading gets recognized
2. Or the free-form text is not added as H2 by default.
