Behaviour of NVDA+backspace in browse mode #6737
Comments
I don't seem to be able to reproduce this with NVDA Version: Using this Github issue as an example page, I get the following behaviour:
@tspivey Could you modify my example to explain what you expect to happen? |
Move around with numpad 7 and numpad 9. The regular arrow keys work fine.
|
Which browser is this in?
Seem to recall having a head scratching session with this in IE11 in
windows 7 a while ago, but not tried it recently.

Subject: [nvaccess/nvda] Behaviour of NVDA+backspace in browse mode (#6737)
The NVDA+backspace key combination to move to focus in browse mode doesn't
do what I would expect.
STR:
1. Browse a website.
2. Move the review cursor around. This works.
3. Press NVDA+backspace and try again. I can no longer move the review
cursor with the previous/next line keys, because it gets stuck on a link.
When I'm browsing the web (and in document review and browse mode), I
think of focus as the line of text that I'm reading. Once I press this
key, I should be able to use the review cursor to navigate just like I can
the regular arrow keys, and like I could before I did this.

I can reproduce this in Firefox 66.0.2 and Chrome 73 with NVDA 2019.1. Keyboard layout set to Laptop
Actual: NVDA's review mode is document review. When pressing nvda+up and down arrow in step 4 you can navigate the text around google apps. But in step 6, NVDA only says "top, bottom" although the review mode is still document review and not object review. Expected: the navigation in document review should also work after pressing nvda+backspace. |
This is not reproducible anymore with NvDA 2024.4 Beta, Firefox 130 or Chromium Canbary 131. Closing as works for me. If you are still having this issue, please comment and we can reopen. |
