I think transclusion could be very useful for places like source code, where you want to quickly preview other source files in-buffer. You can also have links to multiple source code files, and view them separately like in #114. But I have a hunch that it could be more real time than that; even within the source file, xref-find-definitions could be thought of as a link, and transclusion could transclude the definition source file. Syntax highlighting could be resolved like how org-babel does it.
All in all, I don't think this should be limited to org files. It's an infant idea though, so I welcome any edits/extensions to it. I may continuously edit this post as I gain more ideas.

Why limit this to just org-mode?
