The only sections that are numbered differently between the LyX I-D and the output are the reference sections, because only top-level sections are supported. This is confusing. Moreover, if you make a mistake and use 2nd-level headings, there is no useful error message.

Yes, I should add an xsl:message to warn about things that need warning about.
