I uninstalled the dev version and installed the beta, then tried to get a track on the way home. It started fine, but after arriving home my phone was almost unresponsive. Hitting home lit the buttons, but the screen stayed black. Tried doing my unlock code blind, holding buttons, etc, but couldn't find a way to revive it. Holding the power button finally gave me an options menu. I selected Restart, and a while got a dialog:
Process com.android.systemui isn't responding, do you want to close it?
I chose Ok, then canceled the restart. The lock background came back, but i still couldn't unlock. Next time around the restart worked.

I am 99% certain this is only happening on your device. I was having a crashing issue when I first installed the release version, but after doing a couple things to clean the app off, I re-installed and it worked just fine, as well as working on other devices that have never had the debug version installed before. Perform the following steps and you should be good to go:
Go to Settings > Apps and find Reno Tracks under the Downloaded section
Click "Clear Data" and confirm the action
Uninstall the app from the same screen
Reboot device
Re-install from the Play Store
We're not out of the woods, I fear.
