The folder tree needs little +/- icons to keep from being unmanageable with many folders (or, hypothetically, folders like "bad data" that I wouldn't want visible...)

I'll implement collapsable lists on that folders sidebar. Speaking of which, do you want visibility controls on data/folders?

Perhaps, but that's coupled to a discussion about file transfers re. bandwidth and scalability. This particular feature request is just for simple collapse and expand (-:
