We should be able to extract our historical data from: https://www.githubarchive.org/
This will involve some BigQuery ... 😉

While its great that this data exists and I want to make time to download a sample and do some analysis on the historical data, I feel its over-kill for now.

Hopefully githubarchive isn't going anywhere!
