Windows NT at DOS Wasm X #18
Comments
I have never tested windows NT but it would be whatever windows versions are supported by DosBox-X since that is what the code is based on. Looking at their official documentation I don't see windows NT called out so I don't think it's supported: https://dosbox-x.com/wiki/#Guide:Microsoft-Windows-in-DOSBox%E2%80%90X |
Actually, you can Windows NT 3.1, 3.5x, and 4.0 installed in DOS Wasm X as long as you install MS-DOS 6.22 and the hard drive format is FAT (I tested it). But when you try to update it to newer service pack, it will get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error code (NT 3.51 to 4.0). But you can still use it without update it to newer service pack. |
That's really cool! Thank you for testing that! |
You're welcome! |
That's great! Is it pretty stable or are there any issues with it ? |
Actually, there are two problem. First, you can't update to service pack 4, it just maxed out at SP1. Same cases like NT 4.0 and 3.51, both of them just have problem when updated to SP2 or above. Second, when I try to access the CD-ROM content in Windows 2000, the DOS Wasm X just crash. But, you can still use the Windows 2000 properly. |
About updating service pack at NT 4.0 and NT 3.51, after update to SP2 or above, it'll get unrecoverable INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error. But, in Windows 2000 instead getting that error, it just says "failed to update". |
Can I install Windows NT (3.1 to 2000) at DOS Wasm X?
