Octane material translation #18
Comments
I don't have access to Octane either on lightwave or blender, so it is hard to test or verify. In addition to that I imagine that the Octane materials are only available on LWO3 format, and at the moment the importer cannot do LWO3 (but I am looking at that). Finally, it is very rare to get an importer to import textures and doing a one for one mapping between the surface/material/textures/nodes of two different 3D tool is next to impossible. Traditionally the import will create a base texture/material in blender, but the person who does the import needs to retexture. That base texture will preserve things like UV and hopefully make at the images available. With all that said, can you supply one (or a few) lwo files that contain the octane materials? (ideally something I can release publicly to help maintain support) I will at least see if it is parse-able. |
Hi,
here's a tree you can freely use.
It will ask for some HDRs when u load scene but you can skip all, it
will load proper materials.
Please let me know if this is useful and if it's enough.
Best
Paolo

Hello,
most pro LW users use Octane today, and it would be extremely cool if this translator could load LWOs in Blender with Exhisting Octane materials. Do you think this is feasible ?
