Description / Steps to reproduce the issue

The index file created by git in msys2 are not compatible with the index file created by https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/releases

Can the git in msys2 use the source code from https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/releases

Expected behavior

The index file created by git in msys2 compatible with the index file created by https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/releases

Actual behavior

Is not compatible and causing repeat re-updating the index when do reset --hard

Can the git in msys2 use the source code from https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/releases

It could, but that probably wouldn't help you, because most changes in Git for Windows (compared to upstream Git) would only be compiled for native Windows targets.

Could you provide steps to reproduce your issue, so we can investigate what is incompatible here?
