The command palette was one of those features that elevated mpv.net from feeling like a big pile of scripts and config files (a typical mpv setup) to a proper desktop video player. Out of all the suggested alternatives it looks the best, is more readable and doesn't have any usability issues. The recent files menu in the command palette was very nice as well!
I understand that it was removed due to compatibility issues, but surely that doesn't mean that it's impossible to re-implement? I would keep using the old versions if it weren't for some nasty bugs that the updates fix, so the removal of the command palette is really unfortunate.

I tried adding it back for a few hours, but unfortunately couldn't really make it.
command_palette.lua is now feature rich, I added everything I could think of. One issue with the script is that it takes some time to install and config. I probably write a download and install script, uosc has such a script, it could even be integrated into the mpv.net context menu.
In the next release, the command palette has an installer script, which can be invoked from the mpv.net context menu at 'Settings > Setup > Install Command Palette'.
