core esp8266 update to 3.1.2 and OTA stopped working Unhandled C++ exception: OOM

I have been using the esp8285 in a commercial project for a few years now and have always updated the firmware OTA. However, after flashing the esp8285 with firmware in board version 3.1.2, it is no longer possible to update the firmware over OTA. The error below occurs:

If you downgrade to version 3.1.0 and earlier, this error does not happen, and the firmware update via OTA proceeds normally.

There are hundreds of devices installed with board version 3.1.2 and now I can't update them over OTA anymore. Please help me to resolve. What to do?

The problem happens exactly when in this program line:

t_httpUpdate_return ret = ESPhttpUpdate.update(UpdateClient,URL_fw_Bin);

The firmware.bin is in the firebase storage, and with whatever file size it is already in, or even with no file at all, the OOM happens.

Would it be a TLS/SSL buffering reception/transmission problem? Would anything have changed in core 3.1.2 esp8266? And if that's the problem, how to solve it on the boards in the field?

You post in the wrong repo and it is your code that you should debug your memory usage.

Instead of implement OTA update yourself, library provides the OTA update that you can use.

Yes, I understand that there are other techniques to OTA firebase, but this project is old, so the method used was another. But my problem is how to update these old projects that are in the field? Any suggestion?
