Is there a way to import a text file from Firebase to the ESP8266?

I'm trying to get a text file stored on Firebase to my ESP8266 (NodeMCU). I then have to feed this text file into a microcontroller unit via serial output. Yes, it's inefficient to send large volumes of data via serial like this but I must get it done.

Any help or direction on how I can do this is greatly appreciated,

I'm trying to follow the DownloadFile.ino example but I have a few doubts-
In the line

1. Does /path/to/save/filename mean the file on our flash memory/ SD card we're saving the file in?
2. For the next parameter, if I use mem_storage_type_flash, is the data stored in the flash memory? How can I access this data and use Serial.write() on it?
3. Is there a way I can directly read the file from firebase and use Serial.write() to print it? Without the flash memory or SD Card I mean.

Sorry if these questions don't make exact sense,
I'm quite new to this library ^.^

1 yes as it clearly stated by the function objective
2 yes, it clearly stated by enumeration definitions
3 not available and no one uses this way to send data between devices.

You should use other communications ports e.g. I2C and SPI for direct data transfer between devices.

The serial is too slow and you need to manage the validity of received data yourself e.g. do CRC checking.
