Hello mkiol,

thanks für Cyklop, I think I can really use it. But I have one Problem: GPS don't start.

I've installed Cyklop on Harmattan / Nokia N9 twice with Opensudo and one time in normal (user) mode. When I start cyklop I get the following message (excerpt):
...

Qt Location requires usage of app_id and token parameters obtained from:
https://api.forum.nokia.com/ovi-api/ui/registration
For more information about app_id and token please consult:
http://doc.qt.nokia.com/qtmobility-latest/location-overview.html#the-nokia-plugin

...

In my opinion it seems, that Cyklop isn't allowed to start GPS?

Thanks for your help!

You are probably the first person trying to install Cyklop on N9 so far :-) I've tested it only on N9 emulator, so it is very likely it's buggy. I will look into it, but can't guarantee anything - without real device is very difficult to do proper troubleshooting.

After my quick research, I don't thing that message "Qt Location requires usage of app_id..." is related to GPS problem. It has to be something else.

I've prepared special build with additional debugging messages. Please install it, run and capture output of a command line: https://github.com/mkiol/Cyklop/tree/master/binary

Hi Muki,

thank you for your replay. As wished I downloaded, installed and run the
Debug-Version of Cyklop. As an attachment to this Email I send you the
responding debug-messages from the command line (cyklop_debug.txt) - I would be
lucky if this will help you to figure out, what's wrong.

Many thanks and greetings
Stefan

Unfortunately I am unable to figure out what is wrong so far :-(
Please try once again. I've made new packages with more debug messages:
https://github.com/mkiol/Cyklop/tree/master/binary
Try to capture for few minutes after app starts. It should log your GPS status every 2s.

OK - here we go (see attachment).

And - the new version is a progress (in some aspects)!

When the program starts the GPS-sign pops up. In the Programm it seems sometimes
to find the right position and shows it on the map, but sometimes not: In the
list-screen I have to change my city manualy; when cyklop tries to find the
nearest station I got the message "can't find station" and I can change to the
map screen which shows now the right postion. When I try to change the City in
the map screen first I got no right position - the map screen goes to the
pacific and nothing more. Strange.

Do this help? I'm really happy, that you look after this - thank you very much.

Best regards
Stefan

Actually GPS doesn't seem to work on my 808 either. I didn't want to bother anyone because, I thought, that nobody cares about Symbian any more... Since there is a response...

I have Nokia 808 with the newest software. I downloaded Your app, and tourned it on. At the end of initialising, and every time I hit refresh button it shows "GPS is disabled!" message in the notification bar. Needles to say Settings->Enable GPS is on... The GPS icon doesn't appear.. Current settings are:
Language: English
Enable GPS: on
GPS interval (ms): 5000
Search radiuus (m): 20000
Chosen city: Warszawa

I downloaded this app, several months ago (september 2013), but didn't think that there is a chance for any fix. Today I reinstalled it since I didn't know whether there were any updates...
Anyway I wrote this comment because after sferic's bug report, You're probably looking for something platform specific, and the problem may be more general...

Since I heard Years ago, that there were applications (on Nokia E52 if I recall correctly), that were unable to turn on GPS, but worked fine, with Nokia Maps working in background, I tried that as well. Doesn't help...

PS. Nice to see, that there is still somebody out there... :-)

@sferic @AdamStelmaski Thanks to both of you!

Now, I'm beginning to understand where the problem is. Obviously GPS works fine, but my app is deadlocking in some unpredicted state. I need time (which I don't have) to redesign few things in code, so stay tuned :-)

PS: I am a little embarrassed for creating so buggy app. My excuse is that I've tested it only on N900 and everything works, including GPS.

But it's an nice app - with great potentials. It's useful and and I can use the
second debug-version with some work around. It's nice to see it on the N9 (and
the 808 too). So I'm waiting for the improvements that will come - thank you in
advance.

BTW - what's about distribution over openrepos.net? That would be with a great
audiance (for you) and automatic updates (for the users).

Best regards
Stefan

True that. Openrepos.net is a great platform. Will definitely consider this.

I did some code review and fixed many bugs. Please check my latest work: https://github.com/mkiol/Cyklop/tree/master/binary

Hi Muki,

as promised I send enclosed the output of the terminal after call of Cyklop.
I have opened the program. The position has determined correctly. Stations were
not found. Then I have changed the town and changed there. Also now no stations
are indicated.

A lot is not in the output, maybe it helps, nevertheless.

Greetings
Stefan

Hello, I tried Your new version on Nokia 808. Symbian Belle FP2 etc. GPS started working, and now program is very usefull. Thank You so much. My phone has just gained another important functionality....

Did You consider adding it to new symbian store - AppList?
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/flow/item/19534_The_2014_Symbian_Store_AppList.php
It would probably gain bit more users...
