I'm still new to Docker, and I'm trying to understand how a command-line tool runs within a Docker container. I've asked on Reddit and a few other places, but I still need some clarification. I thought I'd reach out to the community here to see if anyone has experience setting up Docker and could provide some pointers to help me get started |

Just to get a understanding of this, if, the container comes online, looks at the links and suck up whatever, then the container closes down after finishing. Is this the best way to understand how this should work? |

I would say yes, that's a good way of putting it. It may not feel "right" to do it that way, but that's because Docker is usually used to provide an always-up service. It's really good for web servers and databases and things that need to stay online. gallery-dl is a run-and-done process, so a Docker image does feel a little odd. But yes, that's the gist of how a one-line command like a gallery-dl download works in a container. |
