How do I set up the username and pw for exhentai?

I am not an overly technical guy and I am confused.
I tried using gallery-dl -u "<username>" -p "<password>" "URL" and gallery-dl -o "username=<username>" -o "password=<password>" "URL". But I get JSONDecodeError and it says [gallery-dl][error] Unsupported URL 'https://exhentai.org'
As well as copying this to the config file (config.json in appdata/roaming) and editing it with my credentials and swapping twitter by exhentai:

But I am still getting no username or cookies given. And when it tries to use ehentai, it somehow gets stuck and nothing appears in the console. So I am stuck in place.

Can anyone explain it to me for dummies?

You need to input the actual URL you want to download from, like https://exhentai.org/g/1200119/d55c44d3d0/

gallery-dl -u "USER" -p "PASS" https://exhentai.org/g/1200119/d55c44d3d0/

(You can leave out -p "PASS" and gallery-dl will promp you for it when necessary)

Maybe there's something wrong with your config file? The one you posted looks fine, though. Check gallery-dl --config-status.

I rewrote the config file and it logs in now. I think I might have had an extra { or something hampering it before.
But I still have a doubt. It says it logs in; but also says it needs cookies bc captcha.
I use opera to enter exhentai, so I extraccted the cookies using cookie editor to a txt file in json format, then I copied this line
"cookies": "$HOME/path/to/cookies.txt"
with the actual path under the user and password fields in the previous config file.
However, now it fails to log in with this error:
[config][error] JSONDecodeError when loading 'C:\Users\Serfango\AppData\Roaming\gallery-dl\config.json': Expecting ',' delimiter: line 6 column 13 (char 139)
However, it now uses e-hentai properly since the cookies seem to work.
Basically this is the config file:

• You were missing a comma , after the password value
• Backslashes \ need some special treatment in JSON
• You don't need username or password when using cookies

I am attempting to get it to work now.
I did those changes; but I am still getting an error
[exhentai][warning] cookies: [Errno 22] Invalid argument: "path/to/cookiesfile.txt"
I have extracted the cookies from opera using cookie editor extension (https://github.com/Moustachauve/cookie-editor), (https://addons.opera.com/es/extensions/details/cookie-editor-2/) to a HEADER, JSON and NETSCAPE format; but none of them seem to work.

Something is wrong with the path to your cookiesfile.

Only NETSCAPE format is supported.
